For those that requested it… My tattoo.
I waited 5 years for my fibromyalgia pain to be manageable enough and my immune system was stable enough to get it.
He rests on my Left upper arm facing forward on my blind side. The red fox is me and my brother’s “spirit animal” I suppose. Cunning, playful, sly, and loyal to it’s mate, the fox has always been a reoccurring symbol in my life. My brother also has a fox tattoo, on his chest. The “Fin” Foxes til death.
He is on my blind side to watch out for me where I cannot. The rat is a symbol of how short life can be. I have had many rats as pets, sadly such wonderful little creatures have a very short lifespan. My father was also born the year of the rat, he has taught me through his fight against leukemia how to live my life to the fullest with my own illnesses. The greatest role-model I could have. 16 years with leukemia and still living life to the fullest. Those are big shoes to fill.
The little bird is a male Fairy wren. He is a little tribute to my best friend who has begun the long road of becoming a man, he is trans. When he changed his name, he allowed me to help him choose… and I chose “Wren’. I will always be there for him as much as I can, as he has for me.
A collective symbol of my overcoming chronic illness, even if it is a struggle, I still keep on.
This is the first of my 3/4 sleeves, the tattoo was done by the AMAZING Amanda Pepper at TRX tattoo in St. Louis, MO. She is a brilliant artist and an awesome lady. I just love her <3
